REPORT ON InSLAR SRINAGAR MEETING – 2015

InSLAR ANNUAL MEETING WAS ORGANIZED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY, GOVT. MEDICAL COLLEGE, SRINAGAR AT THE CONVOCATION COMPLEX, UNIVERSITY OF KASHMIR, HAZRATBAL, SRINAGAR ON 10TH MAY 2015

The meeting was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Honorable Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir, Ch. Lal Singh Ji. He appreciated the organizers and said that such conferences are beneficial for academics, research and public at large.  Speaking of the occasion the Principal, Govt. Medical College, Srinagar Prof. (Dr) Rafiq Ahmad Pampori said that such interactive academic events will lead to quality research. The Organizing Secretary, Dr. Sabhiya Majid, Prof. & Head Department of Biochemistry, Govt. Medical College, Srinagar, said that great efforts were made by all departmental staff in organizing the event which she hoped would go a long way in promoting collaborative research and improved diagnostics. Dr Girdhar Gyani, Director General AHPI, National Advisor InSLAR, Dr Thuppil Venkatesh, Principal Advisor to Quality Council of India – also known as lead man of India, also addressed the inaugural function. Prof. Abbas Ali Mahdi, President, InSLAR and HOD Biochemistry, KGMU, Lucknow announced that a referral centre for Lead Analysis would be set up at Govt. Medical College, Srinagar & Associated SMHS Hospital.

The meeting was an academic feast attended by around two hundred delegates. Thirty five oral presentations by luminaries in the field and young scientists were delivered. Besides that around forty young scientists presented their scientific work as posters. The key speakers included Prof. L.M. Srivastava, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi and Prof. Praveen Sharma, A.I.I.M.S., Jodpur, and many other experts in the field of medicine. Symposium on lead toxicity was followed by panel discussion. Speakers emphasized upon the need for lead analysis facility to be made available at Srinagar. This was appreciated by Principal of the college. Delegates deeply appreciated efforts of organizers and admired picturesque beauty of the venue.
